Hey All,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We recently did a road trip through Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. First if you haven't been up to Vermont. It really is a great state to visit. And it's a fun place to go in nearly all seasons. Fall and Spring can be wet, but it really is great all year round.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway here's a video of the highlights from the trip.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/NtxrtEDLVqc/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="400" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NtxrtEDLVqc?feature=player_embedded" width="600"></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
The trees had not yet started to really change colors. But the weather was beautiful. And given a choice. I'd rather have nice weather.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Nature and adventure:</u></b><br />
<b><u><br /></u></b>
As I said the weather really was amazing. Even for late September, the skies were mostly clear and it was actually quite hot.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh-c1JK1S7KV35QEnjJ1UCsODLmmjXnCQpxay9MMmLlGxcAyccSJKHYxNCYxdH_ytcdf9RBNSkDeVRknNM7lXUQ_7gGV0aID-M8iFg6AY40-pbO-ecnjkKDPQJvdUBECEwQ8_4oDeph1I/s640/IMG_20180923_103756.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
One of the things I love about Vermont are the rural highways for road biking. You also get a lot of nice vantage points for photographs.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3eNvSljhqFtCjxj1dzw1vdnWGfoxLdKCmEc7ZU3GyzmvgfGn0ojcmwR_lpF7YWsetIlLbGotzCqWQ8zMGEFIKR2lzLzuuYtLOKarl0pBQRvhmRv4k3TUjx3BN5gvChIkeTMxbv0oZxek/s640/IMG_20180922_101738.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think at the peak we had a couple +2000 feet climbs. That is not something we typically find where we live. And it was intense, not too much flat road where we biked. It really just felt like one hill after the next.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD6VND_SSKz7EXpvz7jCsduVnd4I4Mz-nVp8HiZdYwIKg9BXjOWmj4AFF1ZrCEC3r2dX4H9km22KSMORkk3S3l_HinxswGlQShhsI6KCahhc-5adqd0KfD1REhGulJxIGjeh9qUGmh-_w/s640/IMG_20180922_101842.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><u>Classic Vermont - Awesomeness</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><u><br /></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We found this really amazing little place. And were allowed to photograph it. The owners were keen on keeping the interior to a specific time period.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzOLqS5_91D5ZAL7vsbqsbHSkkg44OZmCj7Ti8levh1FOZ77IkmEZFm9DLKn4roz1dxdMyhySnlbVYDIZlPrYHqsqK4Wym5atG8oq2m_p93jFGVVWeVEevIWVeT25DmIwU-bxTHYd9A3k/s640/IMG_20180922_081614.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
Really felt like going into the past when you entered the building. The TV was a gigantic box and lots of antique accessories around the place. Even the tables and chairs all screamed I'm not modern.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJp7NCEMDcdYTj7v758tjf0ex7I7eRji7Zz_8tAPaD5msyxxtRwpGMKBS5smmg9emJv8qbvr8vduvtW4zEvo_69NZn3G_XzSscWFUURnhiXPIAAwzH-X7fItCxz7_tn-D0YF_g9KYH5bA/s640/IMG_20180922_081720.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
This might be seen as tacky in our places around the U.S., but here is works.<br />
<br />
Again just another example of what makes Vermont a unique state to visit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyWpJXxA9_4j1QtKj748ajUt-J4FDXO_S1bt2v-2HfGFw5ZytztchtHAQ46YGiTL5reo6EsY77NEFb57ecT3IDJkgS_lIs4bByDRUrsBszTHPCYglZCN2HtOfkSWa2jn5OpvALbuFm0M8/s640/IMG_20180922_081801.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u>Vermont Craft Micro Brewery - Hill Farmstead Brewery</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Really no trip to Vermont should be considered complete until you have visited at least one local brewery. They are a great place to go after a day of skiing, hiking, or for us road biking over 40 miles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We ended up choosing Hill Farmstead Brewery, because it was closest to where we were.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBJlvjWOLZa0P_i_VanDqIBh-Fj5QjIkvZ_0pkWDKiZziEdU-o5WxQ6YIdDCBPwfOOdpz0HDYNF4rGFozbcRYFFXPZaeGPg2Gbixf9Fq-TvzSQa8fPaUN4Ae9xY4CVtNsoQN7AK_a5kdA/s640/IMG_20180922_145847.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
This Brewery was established in 2010 by Shaun Hill a local Vermonter, and is also located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.<br />
<br />
Wiki actually states that the brewery is 70 miles away from the largest city in Vermont, which happens to be Burlington. And that was very fitting, because to get to this wonderful establishment, one has to drive a decent amount on a dirt road with a not so gradual incline at times.<br />
<br />
Please do not take this as a warning, all cars would be able to get to the brewery.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHGIms2FOy5RrFe-sfvc1HnGc7HUUoCfQU-K2qI6-x4cAKF8ItSaNf1XSHQ5Mt-DQh6caLPOscyDq0OX2AYrB9raC2SK8i6qJ7dkpTIrUDrmjhFuArwsLzls-gduxAHPBfL4OohqRudow/s640/IMG_20180922_145721.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Their beer selection was really great. And perhaps it was a busy day due to how beautiful the weather was that weekend. The line to get beers was about 15-20 minutes.<br />
<br />
Pro-tip: Place your order for pizza before getting in line, so you'll be able to have a brick oven cooked flat bread ready for you, after you get your beers.<br />
<br />

<b><u>Vermont Nature and Wild life:</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u><br /></u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
During our bike ride we actually saw bear. This was such a crazy situation. I could go on for a while on the subject, but to keep it short.</div>
<br />
Biking by a chicken farm we saw some kids by a house who yelled, "Watch out! There's bears in the trees". We thought it was a joke until we saw the mother bear.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Watch the video above to see the bear, the screen shots from my phone didn't do it justice.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="297" data-original-width="420" height="452" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixCMeegcbwStGGGoDFrc0xSLMQwQbGi65-XMMu3goXFGlmcV3Bj-Xn6WXG5nQhj9wIpPc9_MPJeOF-tx5KwKtf9jlnZys1lhS0IRUl32vp2aHCiJIN45ErF6CVO8F_v0URSvk7LM94utU/s640/Screen+Shot+2018-10-27+at+12.29.49+PM.png" width="640" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
During the road trip we also came across a unique bee hive. And man were they active. From afar it just looked like the tree was spitting out bees. And when I got closer to the hive, the bees would just fly around me. It was enormous and I could only imagine how many bees were in that colony.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b><u>Amazing, Unexpected Currency Collector Find:</u></b><br />
<b><u><br /></u></b>
On our way home. We randomly selected a coffee shop. Wanting to keep things local and avoid dunks and the bucks. We decided to go to a place in Saint Johnsbury, called, <b>Locally Social</b>. Run by Ian and Cari. I knew we made the right choice as soon as we entered the shop.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0vqzVPI-1v7dcAsikDqhMHwKaN6Yetxg_CE24mI9RsGG1o6Oh5miR72m7IQ4I0qzi-xm7biGEd-Ro8kyFssRqvng-OEotJKgQ6FNEVnDLDqAEBjlk_1s6iAdIWv5PlGqbxXri6y2k6NI/s640/IMG_20180923_101125.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
One was plastered with foreign currency.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikXYAOc44grSYkibcnLr0SMD7SnsLS-NU5ULTdjNvb7KKJPQbeM5EFXeXI1QAbwkN3v4ycb4TKNXLdAsRqJBhHrOBPuIeBcH0qMF_AM8Jrb4gqu1EJdzHLF0j6O3cHcMOPERkhf2veV70/s640/IMG_20180923_101141.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
Ian and Cari were happy to talk about the wall of money.<br />
<br />
It started with a single foreign bill coming to the shop. Then they had another. And soon enough people were starting to provide then with bank notes from new countries around the world.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ8RN-9GXHFFLaLCiFw3Mj1U_1mBR6AHVShlUx5c0-KzybhWm2mMtForddo5Dr7Z8SXjKd44PQ4ylBxIGCn5SMrIIAeH7TvevAwjNymiD6ii7ttA7VZxRB-NLbcu6j4Uh-qHzzy_WLjZk/s640/IMG_20180923_101203.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
When we visited they had examples from over 63 countries. In some cases multiple denominations from a particular country. Some still in circulation others not.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4v6H-RSFuxJcByjHTg6ObL2-H8FXaVYCzjoDTM29EfwkgFRwg_WWh4G3DPzIp6wlIB2x6xeuEYkjfQ-lYZW0nC0Dh1ECiQPSdjuSlADP1KBMjnVMMi8gLD7c0_IFZ6LH6djh5Ld9MoF0/s640/IMG_20180923_101216.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
I found this to be amazing because as you already know, I'm a coin and currency collector.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT3juA2Q4wtRw6PtF88PgvRW7KwJAfOHXjqOplBfpMR-tU-3HrM_4Q08_jjRcTnmJsuLF9nXl9Uwoz4HLZblKRD9ZXkljpKCFa4NdRXYaVv9FMTHN3LfASSLVFi6BXwiZfCocCelRvGho/s640/IMG_20180923_101224.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
I just think this was a wonderful little find. We could have easily missed this experience by going to one of the larger chains in the area and been on our way. But instead we had some really great coffee and a wonderful chat with local shop owners.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGRTqmSlix_BX5Id-fflRL4IahyaWqfX7m5RwrFv-nnwtK1UW1CZBEejOUyaHAON-zEzmOHSjIpoovliFKLFv1AHendsV3mlI48hAltuCwBofq9kOIFLTHPftf7s6cxvfSnTafFAfyB8w/s640/IMG_20180923_101246.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
I didn't bring it up, but I did think to myself, these should all be in holders. Just to preserve them. That was my collector side trying to get out. Lol.<br />
<br />

Thanks all for reading this post!<br />
<br />
I'd love to hear of any exciting coin and currency finds you've had during road trips.<br />
<br />
It could be coin roll hunting finds. Or perhaps something more like our experience here in the Northeast Kingdom.<br />
<br />
Or totally unrelated to Coins and Currency. Just your experiences from visiting Vermont or the greater New England area.<br />
<br />
<br />

<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/qRxDdbmKf0w/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="400" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qRxDdbmKf0w?feature=player_embedded" width="600"></iframe></div>
<br />
I created this video in response to a YouTube subscribers question regarding Coin Roll Hunting. Essentially what is the best way to coin roll hunt, Edge hunt only or Date Check all coins.<br />
<br />
I have also proposed this topic to a number of coin collecting forums.<br />
<br />
Personally my process for CRHing dimes, quarters, and half dollars is to edge hunt and then date check coins that appear to be AU or better.<br />
<br />
A lot of people commented that date hunting is the only way to Coin Roll Hunt. Otherwise you risk missing Coin errors, varieties, doubled dies, and more.<br />
<br />
Where do you stand on this? Leave a comment below.<br />

<u style="font-weight: bold;">This is a post for anyone that is currently buying Silver or plans to start investing in Silver.</u> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In particular those interested in Silver Bullion (e.g. American Silver Eagles, generic bars & rounds, etc.) and U.S. Junk Silver coins (e.g. 90%, 40% or 35%). It's always a great feeling when you find a great deal on a some silver. Whether your buying .999 fine bars/rounds or something like 90% U.S. Junk silver, a great deal is a great deal. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
However if you're not careful with detailing your purchases, you may not know as much about your collection as you should. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are just a couple examples of issues, not having a good record of your purchases can lead to:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- Wasting time doing repeat inventory of your collection</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- Selling for a loss (because you aren't aware of your initial purchase price, not due to the market)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- How much have you spent in a given time period or in general</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For anyone that is buying (and selling) silver, I really feel that using software like Microsoft Excel is essential. And you don't have to be a pro to use this software.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have created a spreadsheet that aims at helping people track their Bullion and U.S. Junk Silver coin purchases. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Below is a YouTube Tutorial for the spreadsheet I have created</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Gbp-y4mWl4Y/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="320" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Gbp-y4mWl4Y?feature=player_embedded" width="480"></iframe></div>
<br />
<b><u>What can you expect to get from using this Tracker?</u></b><br />
<br />
At the very least I hope that this tracker will provide those who use it with the following:<br />
<br />
- A simple way to keep track of their Silver Bullion & Silver U.S. Junk Silver purchases<br />
- Keep a running total on the total <b>Cost per ounce of silver </b>in their <b>entire collection</b><br />
- Know how much the collection has appreciated or depreciated<br />
- Have a running breakdown of each purity in the collection (by total oz. and % of collection)<br />
<br />
<b><u>Screenshots:</u></b><br />
<br />
Start by selecting the product from the drop down list<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="237" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpEjpDNrNgo_e_Z9skytmgDdkVQTI0WVmjU8KoG867h0DHUg06MpRmPOXSLl8Hw8q7wtDv254ga1HGpegVTaIP-SaOlvumlexdlO5cI-8QacSaG5PYr53eeE9hyIYrHg5pnIcEjvbB73g/s640/Screen+Shot+2016-11-21+at+8.12.53+PM.png" width="640" /></div>
<br />
The enter the quantity of that coin. So how many of that product you bought. Careful not to confuse the Quantity cell with the face value. Once you have entered a product and a quantity, the spreadsheet will automatically tell you the <b>Total Troy Ounces</b> within that lot. Please note this total is based on ideal measurements (newly minted bullion or silver coins), and does not factor wear on the products that could offset the actual silver content.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="148" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDweqRN0FprO7ZLEZNXbyotayoyH5FZr3i7AMot4VQ_gV8pa5zBNY42BllXLJ_MOb7SFLL1C3ghOhDWv3jXNZcBu6AMBC8u2dSW0riF31bJca650xoYGzQwjN9kE0FR3UGYeb8hpnCAcA/s640/Screen+Shot+2016-11-21+at+8.18.34+PM.png" width="640" /></div>
<br />
Finally enter the <b>Unit Price</b>, which is what you actually paid for the product. You also have the option to include any additional costs in the <b>Other Costs</b> cell. This can be a great place for expenses like premiums or travel expenses.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhka1FaqWBt7HwxPklcPop5xb1iGiaxGRwUt2fK8BINTCakqkjNec5EdSZPq_CSjbkjdqM-cPuiVl5tQ-LRSxQ8t5XlQSHgS_Mjjwr-iMkZwhwKelJkOdv90HiP1KaePxxWrT1N02XYv88/s640/Screen+Shot+2016-11-21+at+8.22.00+PM.png" width="640" /></div>
<br />
Now over time as you continue to make additional purchases, just update the tracker and it will keep a record for you to refer to. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="112" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSo4uR13I7-Ff9jEdqeMTHr702g3NnkWAE88jSL-svXC-gqRhCqZJGbTK5fEtObXg6FETqkC7AXPLv2L6InajnaPCR3PzSNpd3x1Q2Lf-DyibSW9rAq-FpNiqEOYpE6Ns1BqYIAvDOjX0/s640/Screen+Shot+2016-11-21+at+8.28.48+PM.png" width="640" /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>BUT WAIT IT GETS BETTER!!!!!</b></span><br />
<br />
There is also another worksheet in this tracker that will give you a summary of your purchases. I'm calling it the <b>SnapShot page</b>. <br />
<br />
You do need to Manually enter the <b>Current price of Silver </b>in cell B2.<br />
<br />
But after that the <b>SnapShot page</b> provides you with:<br />
- Total T oz. of Silver in the collection<br />
- Your cost per ounce of Silver (this will be skewed if you include anything with a high $$ premium)<br />
- Cost of Investment (how much you've spent on the collection)<br />
- Net Profit (Loss)<br />
- Return On Investment<br />
<br />
As well as the breakdown by purity:<br />
- For .999 Fine bullion you can see <b>Total T oz. & % of Collection</b><br />
- For Junk U.S. Silver Coins you see <b>Total T oz., Total Face, & % of Collection</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipMPWAbihnDLSRQw0EKME91wIQNizUw8RFx38FksG9HdXef1hcRMSfx6IsHMKvVRvKVBvXP-uz_VEozYeHR0eTfqveqz6OZPTnST-phtU1dOUh5n8D0ZYTRhcujxNEznGIJfGvW1QUTH8/s1600/Screen+Shot+2016-11-21+at+8.32.03+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="392" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipMPWAbihnDLSRQw0EKME91wIQNizUw8RFx38FksG9HdXef1hcRMSfx6IsHMKvVRvKVBvXP-uz_VEozYeHR0eTfqveqz6OZPTnST-phtU1dOUh5n8D0ZYTRhcujxNEznGIJfGvW1QUTH8/s640/Screen+Shot+2016-11-21+at+8.32.03+PM.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: x-large;">Here is the link to the Excel Template: </span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/sp1xmvqn7ez76rz/Silver%20U.S.%20Junk%20Coin%20%26%20Bullion%20buy%20spreadsheet.xlsx?dl=0">Silver U.S. Junk Coin & Bullion Buy Spreadsheet</a></span><br />
<br />
Some important limitations of this tracker:<br />
<br />
- It is not designed to track sales<br />
- It will not track Non-U.S. Silver coins<br />
- It is only set-up to track U.S. Silver coins and common bullion amounts<br />
- Does not include a section for grades of coins<br />
<br />
This is my first attempt at creating an Excel Spreadsheet to track Silver Bullion & Junk U.S. Silver Coin collections and purchases. If you try it out, please comment on the YouTube video, or here on this post. I would love to learn if this is useful, or if you have a better system (digital or analog) for tracking your silver stacking.<br />

Anthony Dollars (1979P Wide Rim)<div class="" style="clear: both;">
Hi Everyone!!!</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Last week I asked a teller if they could order me large dollar coins. I believe there was a bit of a mix-up as they ordered me a box of small dollar coins instead. I mean they said sure we can order large dollar coins, so I was like excellent that would be super sweet. I would definitely order at least a box of Eisenhower dollars each week.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Anyways, the order came in and I found myself with my normal half dollar boxes and a box of small dollar coins. By the way, don't they totally look like tokens that you'd get at an amusement park... So it didn't seem right to not take the box, since I ordered it and all that.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrlC-d82OCEs0r8zP1fSkoDeKiItb6PheogUPhOGE-E_vLNp9Q3vZVA0bgwrBUoEm1-WVfweW65tHnz4jnsK4L1SW5fCRaDSSCshwb6hBcWhmmNCuqtrhFPHbCyZYAQEJxNxWZReggIEA/s1600/untitled-2-5.tif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrlC-d82OCEs0r8zP1fSkoDeKiItb6PheogUPhOGE-E_vLNp9Q3vZVA0bgwrBUoEm1-WVfweW65tHnz4jnsK4L1SW5fCRaDSSCshwb6hBcWhmmNCuqtrhFPHbCyZYAQEJxNxWZReggIEA/s320/untitled-2-5.tif" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Wide Rim (Near Date)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPY01c2X4NE_VKGQm8NLb1v4BN0dKi2rGwZe1WePoLjjVMcsTu1KJdqsJo3kn6btroMSA51NyAdt_Mzoo3u4qCSpr9trsjpxWGtvVzn_eHLlnZ8zSpQF8iZk_-2WmKffhWdYk084xErt4/s1600/untitled-2-4.tif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPY01c2X4NE_VKGQm8NLb1v4BN0dKi2rGwZe1WePoLjjVMcsTu1KJdqsJo3kn6btroMSA51NyAdt_Mzoo3u4qCSpr9trsjpxWGtvVzn_eHLlnZ8zSpQF8iZk_-2WmKffhWdYk084xErt4/s320/untitled-2-4.tif" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Narrow Rim (Far Date)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">But there was one major issue. There isn't any silver in that box. But I did know of at least one variety in the Susan B. Anthony series. The 1979P SBA WIDE RIM (aka Near Date). I figured perhaps I could get lucky and find one of those. And what do you know I did!!!</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: justify;"><b>How do you tell which variety you have?</b></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's easy, just look at the date. If there is a clear space between the rim and the bottom of the date, you have the common narrow rim (far date). With the less common wide rim (near date) variety, the bottom of the dates are nearly touching the rim.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/c1en6iVIUM4/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="400" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c1en6iVIUM4?feature=player_embedded" width="600"></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a really fun variety to look for. The coins aren't all that small, so you can see the variety without the need for a loupe or magnifying glass. And they can be fitted back into the rolls much like half dollars for easy returns to the bank. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ZWxksi0jB7VfDSKtUP6mOhB6xSRGGvlMz5Jtvl-exWzL-Nc84Y4tWg59qhVtmToeeQ0Osm_de9-Bw3XA_zER8mQoKkpOE19WZJ4zxFRX3pNycFskqCg3CxO7xb9akG46ClmX6xPS-KE/s1600/untitled-2-2.tif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9rtEq_6PqvonyUYNeFNG3ABgNq-rtVuGgBOziv_qZ1ZIc8bqO6DshmIyOXB7mnK9-uh562lX6H4PayR1ODily6v_07TpPTjLJrYhg6wnutKwVGLEND08EiKhZPqim5Ko_KZlIPzg95qI/s1600/untitled-2-3.tif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9rtEq_6PqvonyUYNeFNG3ABgNq-rtVuGgBOziv_qZ1ZIc8bqO6DshmIyOXB7mnK9-uh562lX6H4PayR1ODily6v_07TpPTjLJrYhg6wnutKwVGLEND08EiKhZPqim5Ko_KZlIPzg95qI/s320/untitled-2-3.tif" width="300" /></a><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ZWxksi0jB7VfDSKtUP6mOhB6xSRGGvlMz5Jtvl-exWzL-Nc84Y4tWg59qhVtmToeeQ0Osm_de9-Bw3XA_zER8mQoKkpOE19WZJ4zxFRX3pNycFskqCg3CxO7xb9akG46ClmX6xPS-KE/s320/untitled-2-2.tif" width="300" /></div>
<br />
These coins I believe would be a great coin for young numismatic enthusiasts to hunt through. Also since SBA's were never that popular, the dollars didn't circulate that widely. So there could be a lot of gem examples of this variety still in circulation.<br />

Nickels can be a fun denomination to roll hunt. Pre-1961 coins are still fairly common. And if you're lucky you may also find a War Nickel or Buffalo Nickel. I didn't get so lucky in this round of roll hunting, but it's still fun. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also understand that it's a numbers game, and that desirable nickels are still out there. But when you don't find any in a box or two, it really can test your metal. ;)</div>

Not sure how much of a demand there is out there for banknotes these days. But I got the itch to search $1 & $2 again. Largely because they are a bit easier to return to the banks unlike boxes and boxes of rolled coins.... :D<br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: small;">So </span>we've<span style="font-size: small;"> all heard about how Craigslist is full of scammers. People using fake cashier checks and money
orders, and the banks holding you the seller responsible after the items are
long gone. Being asked to wire funds via
Western Union or MoneyGram have also been popular, because once it’s sent
there’s very little you can do to get it back.
Even PayPal is now a common method for con-artists to scam honest folk out
of their money and or goods.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Whenever
I tell people that I have used Craigslist to buy stuff. I often hear them say, “That’s really
sketchy”, “That website is just a bunch of scammers and creeps” and “I’d never
use it to buy anything valuable”. Well
up until last month, I would have said, “After 3 years of dealings with
Craigslist sellers I have never had cause for concern with any of the people I
bought from on Craigslist.” This would
include both face to face transactions and those that occurred through the
mail.<span style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

I
was contacted by an anonymous craigslist email back on January 18th. A person in Massachusetts wanted to see if I
was interested in buying around 150 ounces of silver bullion. These were all 1 ounce .999 fine bars (Pan
American, Stagecoach, Sunshine Mint).
These were housed in an individual hard plastic case and they all
appeared to be in perfect condition. He didn't leave a name but did leave a phone number I could reach him at. The email came quite late that Friday but I
responded in hopes that I might be the one to get this seemingly wonderful
collection of silver bullion. I didn't hear back from the seller that evening and figured I had missed the sale.<br />

Saturday 1/19/13</b></u><span style="font-size: small;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
Still no response from the seller. So around noontime I tried the seller’s phone. He picked up and we began to talk about the silver he was selling and pricing. Now I’m by no means a major dealer, I try to offer a fair price for silver. He responded very positively to my offer and said all other offers had been much lower than mine and that he would like to meet me today if possible. We agreed to a time and place in Boston and that was it, I was off to meet this person to buy some silver bullion. I brought the money and a digital scale. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBqwTdZs5c2RZ7E9Jx-zGpbnc4kCxIVp0N4X46sUmVigrf7JyH5qpDeRC0HgOM2ev37KFzhKtI2A9npbZbT3IYp7guWJNsmXIrUTcgNZnU7ZhrJUjSngoF2VwKrcCYvUk_jHTr-Sy_A1E/s400/IMG_1284.jpg" width="300" /></span>About an hour later I arrived at the meeting spot and found that he was not there yet. So I texted him and saw a man get out of a red Lexus carrying a suitcase. I figured it was him, and I was correct. We chatted for a little and I learned that he had gone to school in the area and that he was going through some tough times. He said he had bought these silver bars back when silver was around $13 an ounce, and needed the cash to help pay for things. The bars were beautiful each in a hard plastic capsule and they were broken up into units of 42 and presented in vacuum sealed food storage plastic bags (that said made in Korea on the bag, <b>as shown in the picture to the right</b>). </div>
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">They were all lying flat so it
looked very nice. Each bar was
hallmarked and the company stamps (stagecoach, Pan American, Sunshine Mint) all
looked authentic. So I decided not to break
them out of the vacuum sealed bags let alone their individual capsules. The amount turned out to be slightly less
than 150 ounces and he reduced the asking price. When I started to comment about this he
immediately gave me a new lower price. This
at the time </span>didn't<span style="font-size: small;"> strike me as odd or out of place. He mentioned he had some other silver that
he’d be interested in selling, some Morgan’s and peace dollars, and even a
trade dollar. I asked if the trade dollar had any counter stamps on it. And he said he didn't think so. When he asked why I wanted to know this, I
mentioned that these are a popular coin to make counterfeits of and that
includes counterfeiting the graded slabs they are stored in. The seller didn't really react to this, but
we didn't do any other transactions that day and we went our separate ways.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div style="text-align: right;">

<b>Later that day</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<span style="font-size: small;">I now had just shy of 150 ounces of beautiful looking bullion to sell. I started to go about contacting all the people that I knew would be interested in these bars. And sales started to happen. Pretty soon I was going to have confirmed the sale of all of these bars. That’s when everything started to go wrong. First I was called by a friend who wanted me to check and confirm the bars </span>weren't<span style="font-size: small;"> magnetic. That the description I was giving sounded a lot like other counterfeit silver bars being sold today. I opened the bag and took out a couple of the bars. Opened them out of their capsules and first weighed them. The weights were all very close to 31.1g (~ 1 troy ounce); none were more than .5 grams under and more than .9 grams over. After the weights seemed to be okay, I went on to see how these bars did with a magnet next to them. The magnet wouldn't stick on the front or back of the bars. But there was a faint attraction when I pulled the bar away from the magnet.</span></div>
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A close up look at the hard plastic capsules. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I
found that these bars showed the strongest attraction on the sides. In some cases like with the Stagecoach and
Pan American bars it was very, very weak, and the bars barely pulled my small
magnet across a glass surface. But in
other cases like with the Sunshine Mint bars, the bar could actually pick the
magnet up off the ground. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: small;">At
this point my stomach was somewhere around my ankles and I was feeling like I
wanted to pass out. I had just become
the victim of a scam through craigslist.
No longer was this just something I read about. I was out a lot of money and I had no idea
what I needed to do. First thing I had
to do was contact every person I've called over the afternoon and issue a
refund and tell them the deal was off.
Most buyers were okay with this when I told them what had just happened
to me. Some </span>weren't<span style="font-size: small;"> and went so far as
to say they would not trust my services for future sales. Which sucks but all I could do at that point
was inform these would be buyers the truth and hope they would understand given
the circumstances.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<span style="font-size: small;">I

</span><u>a cell phone number</u><span style="font-size: small;">. Luckily we

for the report to be issued to a detective.
So on Tuesday, this very friendly detective told me to forward him
everything I had and he would take it from there.<o:p></o:p></div>

I had not sat on my hands during the last 11 days. Here is what I found on my own:<o:p></o:p></div>

I then searched the full name and found that person’s LinkedIn profile. This hit confirmed the school, career and
current town the seller lived in. He had told me all of this during our
conversation we had had at the time of the sale.<o:p></o:p></div>

detective that I didn't pay or buy as much as I’m claiming. Luckily the detective seemed to think this

seller’s attorney have phone calls and eventually the attorney does show
up. He asks me to show him why I feel
these bars were fakes. I show him that
they are all magnetic and with that the attorney pulls a large envelope from
his inside jacket pocket which contains all of the money I had paid for these
bars. He takes the bars and I walk away
with the money I had thought I was never coming back for the past 2 weeks.<o:p></o:p></div>

Some
disturbing points I later learned about this seller:<o:p></o:p></div>

He
has a criminal defense lawyer on payroll.<o:p></o:p></div>

2012 this person successfully used fake bank checks at a local coin shop to buy

That
he had been arrested for these crimes and was released on bail.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I
learned that a day after he returned the money back to me, he had posted
another ad on Craigslist. This time
using a different name, email address and telephone he posted over $25,000
dollars worth of silver for sale.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: small;">A
friend of a friend met with this new seller who also happened to be driving a
red Lexus. He saw the bullion and said
he needed to verify the silver was real.
He cut into a bar and found it </span>wasn't<span style="font-size: small;"> silver on the inside and also did
an acid test which also proved the bars weren't solid silver. The seller played it off very calmly like this
was a big surprise to him as well. Again
remember this was just 1 day after he had returned me my money for attempting
to sell the same counterfeit silver.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
There
are 2 scary issues about this situation.
First thing is that he is not being charged with a crime. He returns the money for any transaction that
the buyer realizes the silver is fake.
The second issue is that in 2 days I learned that he had sold upwards of
$11,000 in counterfeit bullion which may or may not have gone undetected by the
people buying from him. He listed his
ads in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire and perhaps other states as
well. So it’s going to be very hard for
these people to get their money back, and many may never even learn the bars
are fakes.<o:p></o:p><br />

Now before you read the Craigslist Ad, please keep in mind that I too am not perfect. Just last week I posted some items for sale and mistakenly listed them at 200% their value. I felt like the seller wanted each line to list both their coins and what they would be willing to trade for them. But the ratio seem really off in some cases. Like the first line, "<span style="background-color: white;">1884 cc Morgan ms62 or better 1oz". </span><div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
I was going to highlight the sections that I thought may or may not be quite so accurate. But when I finished most of the Ad was yellow. I highlighted my favorite parts and I hope that the irony in this Ad brings a smile to your face (personally I nearly laughed when I got to the second to last sentence).</div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Greetings Everyone,</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">I </span>am writing this post from Nova Scotia Canada. We arrived Monday evening after driving for most of the day. We left Monday morning at 12:30am to arrive at a ferry in New Brunswick, CA by 12pm. So with no sleep and thankfully no traffic we drove up the east coast through the morning, arrived at the ferry with time to spare, and made it to the house some time around 7pm or so.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmzaJ3pL4TYsEASQJk-nLpMUT0wkudfY8VsTn7wGi-BX_WRO2hQSqT0KtvfDm2Y63nSNjQE2zGcPcfWoQjXh3yRm8Ot7AoF2q8hnad37iXz2al41jQjbzhvtX70ITEKLIrw7Q_p2ksqkU/s400/IMG_0694.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="400" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">3 $100 boxes of Nickels, 2 $25 boxes of Pennies</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We were meeting other family up here in NS, and it was nice to find a couple nickel and penny boxes at the house. I have just made it through all the nickels. The percent of 99% nickel coins was around 10% of $200 worth. I was surprised to find that the 3rd box was a solid 2008 box. All plastic wrapped and looking brand new. Probably the bank ordered it a while back and never left the bank since. I haven't heard many people reporting these types of boxes. I wouldn't think it rare to get a solid year box, but perhaps now that it's four years old maybe it is.<br />
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ7OnFqJvFpHseFE0YNiiwrEepHQ9A96lj8_VYXRzv54RBikHxLmEC80TXt5SUb7vHbeyJVeztbyO6acR3SAvUGMNpFHOaV-rz4IxjYbR59zlH_B9NKBZ1Sw-YZn6TXvzUtLzaMBikIkg/s1600/IMG_0697.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ7OnFqJvFpHseFE0YNiiwrEepHQ9A96lj8_VYXRzv54RBikHxLmEC80TXt5SUb7vHbeyJVeztbyO6acR3SAvUGMNpFHOaV-rz4IxjYbR59zlH_B9NKBZ1Sw-YZn6TXvzUtLzaMBikIkg/s400/IMG_0697.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Solid box of BU 2008 CA Nickels</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
Aside from the minor set back of getting skunked on a box of nickels, the others weren't so bad. I wasn't expecting to get solid rolls of 99% nickel or anything. Just trying to get a little stash of 99% nickel coins before the Royal Canadian Mint's (RCM) recycling program goes and removes all that remains from circulation. It was nice to get what I did. It would take forever to find this many 99% nickels in the boxes of US nickels I search back in the states. At best I just usually find the ones from 1982-present (non-99% nickel years).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9ZwbgQiKXkBC97Jj-OlFjL7JDggPAmzjA0duqZYir6Dd7r-VOE589a7SYsm0iJ9dxleckAnUadzV4BvBclTh1z5t_5K3Y-SWcWNuRUB7YkAZWR9P3sK8x49YtSfcUWuE9tTXY7bxAVhQ/s1600/IMG_0695.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9ZwbgQiKXkBC97Jj-OlFjL7JDggPAmzjA0duqZYir6Dd7r-VOE589a7SYsm0iJ9dxleckAnUadzV4BvBclTh1z5t_5K3Y-SWcWNuRUB7YkAZWR9P3sK8x49YtSfcUWuE9tTXY7bxAVhQ/s320/IMG_0695.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The weather up here on Tuesday was pretty dreary. It rained on and off most of the day, which kept us inside. Perfect weather to do a puzzle or if you have rolls of coins to Coin Roll Hunt (CRH). So yesterday I was able to go through all the nickels and not have to pass up on a beach day or hiking trip into the woods.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyFEs5209AHbDy4WjSlKzALNfomNi1cogGInXHdSVdGFrcxYpdWF3Wg-YDlxZiQdDIssGfuZcj-mT1pmdpK7jE8BssllEnHufurRgneHYWeb0umTScQFIneMC1FHEtFa3CM6e1HH6Kmak/s1600/IMG_0696.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyFEs5209AHbDy4WjSlKzALNfomNi1cogGInXHdSVdGFrcxYpdWF3Wg-YDlxZiQdDIssGfuZcj-mT1pmdpK7jE8BssllEnHufurRgneHYWeb0umTScQFIneMC1FHEtFa3CM6e1HH6Kmak/s320/IMG_0696.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I still have to go through the $50 in Pennies. Ever since I sold my Ryedale I've been almost avoiding any and all pennies that I would need to sort by hand. Hopefully I can get around to sorting them, since these are Canadian coins, and the death of the penny isn't far away.<br />
<br />
Happy Coin Roll Hunting, from Nova Scotia! <br />
<br />
I think we're going to make today a beach day even if the temps don't go above 21 degrees...<br />

</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">F</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">or anyone invested in silver, this year is proving to be quite a ride. Silver started the year at just under $28/oz and in a matter of months climbed up to $37.50 (actual date 2/29/2012) up 33% for the year. </span><div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This high was very short lived, and silver prices began to fall almost immediately after reaching that high. Silver consistently lost around $2/oz per month from March to June, and leveled out around $28/oz. Since June the price has been hovering around this value. It has been stuck at this value and it has been boring to watch.</span><div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">If you look at silver's performance dating back to 2009. The last time silver had more than a 3 month period of flat or little change was between the spring and summer of 2010. Which as we now know was followed by silver's nearly steady 8 month climb from the $18 to $48.70 (actual date 4/29/2011). </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Silver began this week (8/20/2012) at $28.09 and has steadily climbed nearly 5% over the last 3 days to $29.47 (8/22/2012). ProShares Ultra Silver (ETF) <b><a href="http://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSEARCA:AGQ" target="_blank">AGQ</a> </b>[currently $43.27] which is down 65% from one year ago, has gained 12% in the last 5 days, and nearly 16% over the past month.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Perhaps we have just past another bottom in the silver market. There are plenty of factors that could push silver up; the European debt crisis, Greece leaving the euro zone, changes in China's economic growth, US economy is still recovering and the upcoming US presidential election to name a few.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I'm not trying to suggest that we're about to see a repeat of silver's steady climb from 2 years ago. But it's nice to see silver beginning to move again.</span></div>

Please see my previous post:
<a href="http://xxjobiiixx.blogspot.com/2012/03/canada-gets-rid-of-their-penny.html" target="_blank">Canada gets rid of their penny</a>. Now new reports are coming in that the RCM will now continue to distribute pennies until February 4th, 2013. This is a 5 month extension for all you copper hoarders and penny collectors out there to continue doing your thing.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Penny production for the 2012 year has already ended. I am curious to see if this extension may bring about a possible 2013 Canadian penny. </div>

Happy Hunting!</div>
